VOLUNTEER AWARDS

OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO CRICKET AWARDS (OSCAs)
 

The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has introduced an award scheme to recognise the considerable effort provided by volunteers who help to run cricket clubs. 

Each of the 300 cricket clubs affiliated to the Essex County Cricket Board (ECCB) has been invited to nominate one volunteer who can fall into one of the following categories :  

·        Youth – volunteer under the age of 25 at 16 October, 2003 

·        “All rounder” – volunteer who wears many hats and keeps the club running 

·        Promotion of volunteering – volunteer who recruits and co-ordinates other cricket volunteers within the club and local community 

·        “Make a difference” – volunteer who brings in new commercial support through an innovative approach

·        “Cricketforce” – volunteer or a group of volunteers who managed a project to improve the clubhouse and/or the club’s grounds 

·        “Get involved” – volunteer who gets involved with the club because his/her child plays 

·        Leagues and Boards – volunteer who is active at local league, County Board or county age group levels 

The nominations must be with the ECCB by 30 June. All those nominated will receive a certificate of appreciation and some will be invited to a special Volunteers’ function at Lord’s on 4 October.

“We are fortunate to have so many keen volunteers in Essex Club Cricket. We have already recognised many of them through our own Life Vice Presidents and Long Service Awards schemes. We now have a further opportunity to express our appreciation and gratitude for all the good work that is being done for cricket.”

HUTTON CRICKET CLUB have become the first Essex Club outside the Metropolitan District to be awarded CLUBMARK. In achieving Sport England Clubmark Accreditation the club has demonstrated its status as a safe, effective and child friendly club and is a tribute to the hard work of its members.

Congratulations also to Springfield C.C. who have also achieved Clubmark.
